In September 2000, Paul Pierce was stabbed 11 times outside a Boston nightclub — and still didn't miss a single game that season, an origin story that shaped his nickname, "The Truth." Born October 13, 1977, in Oakland, California, and raised in Inglewood. Height 6 ft 7 in (201 cm).
He played three seasons at Kansas (1995–1998), earning consensus All-American honors as a junior. Drafted 10th overall by the Boston Celtics in 1998, he spent 15 seasons anchoring the franchise before finishing his 19-year career with the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Clippers.
Pierce led the Celtics to the 2008 NBA championship, earning Finals MVP honors against the Los Angeles Lakers — the team he had idolized growing up. A 10-time NBA All-Star, he made the All-NBA Team four times.
Career totals: 26,397 points (19.7 ppg), 7,527 rebounds (5.6 rpg), 4,708 assists (3.5 apg) over 1,343 games — at retirement, he ranked among the Celtics' all-time leaders in nearly every major statistical category.
His No. 34 was retired by the Celtics. Named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team. Inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021.
