"The Slim Reaper" — a nickname for a scorer whose high release made his jump shot nearly unblockable despite his 6-foot-11 frame. Kevin Durant was born September 29, 1988, in Washington, D.C.
He played one season at the University of Texas (2006–2007), leading the Big 12 in scoring (25.8 ppg) and rebounding (11.1 rpg) as a freshman. Drafted 2nd overall by the Seattle SuperSonics in 2007, he was named NBA Rookie of the Year and has since played for the franchise (which relocated to become the Oklahoma City Thunder), the Golden State Warriors (2016–2019), the Brooklyn Nets (2019–2023), the Phoenix Suns (2023–2025), and now the Houston Rockets (2025–present).
Durant won the NBA MVP award in 2014 and two NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors (2017, 2018), earning Finals MVP both times. A 16-time NBA All-Star, he has made the All-NBA Team 12 times (6 First Team) and won four Olympic gold medals with Team USA (2012, 2016, 2020, 2024), the most of any male basketball player in Olympic history.
Career totals through the 2025–26 season, over 1,201 games: 32,597 points (27.1 ppg), 6.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game — he ranks among the NBA's top scorers of all time and holds the highest points-per-game average among the league's top-five career scoring leaders.
Named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team in 2021. Still an active player with the Houston Rockets.
