Born February 17, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York. Height 6 ft 6 in (198 cm). Widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, he played 15 seasons in the NBA (1984–1993, 1995–1998, 2001–2003), spending 13 seasons with the Chicago Bulls and 2 with the Washington Wizards.

At the University of North Carolina (1981–1984), he made the game-winning shot in the 1982 NCAA championship game and was named national college player of the year in 1984.

Drafted 3rd overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 1984 NBA Draft. He won five NBA MVP awards (1988, 1991, 1992, 1996, 1998) and six Finals MVP awards (1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998), leading the Bulls to six NBA championships across two three-peats (1991–1993 and 1996–1998). A 14-time NBA All-Star.

Career totals: 32,292 points (30.1 ppg), regular-season rebounds averaging 6.2 per game, and assists averaging 5.3 per game, over 1,072 games. He won the NBA scoring title 10 times and was named to the All-NBA Team 11 times.

Known for his "Air Jordan" leaping ability and clutch scoring. Retired for good in 2003. Inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.
