A June 2026 trade sent Trae Young to the Washington Wizards, closing out eight seasons in Atlanta that made him one of the most electric — and most polarizing — offensive players of his generation. Born September 19, 1998, in Lubbock, Texas. Height 6 ft 2 in (188 cm).
In his lone college season at Oklahoma (2017–2018), he became the only player in NCAA history to lead the nation in both scoring and assists in the same season, tying the Division I single-game assists record with 22. Drafted 5th overall by the Dallas Mavericks in 2018, he was immediately traded to the Atlanta Hawks in the deal that sent the draft rights to Luka Dončić to Dallas.
A four-time NBA All-Star, "Ice Trae" led the league in assists in 2025 and led Atlanta to the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals as a 22-year-old. He is one of only two players in NBA history to lead the league in both total points and total assists in the same season.
Career totals: 25.1 points, 9.8 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game over 498 games and 8 seasons — over 12,000 career points.
Currently with the Washington Wizards on a new contract extension.
