A gravity-defying, highlight-generating point guard from a town of fewer than 3,000 people, Ja Morant went from a little-recruited high schooler to the second overall pick within a few short years. Born August 10, 1999, in Dalzell, South Carolina. Height 6 ft 3 in (191 cm).
He played at Murray State (2017–2019), leading the nation in assists as a sophomore. Drafted 2nd overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019, he won Rookie of the Year in 2020 and developed into one of the league's most explosive players, known for acrobatic finishes at the rim.
A two-time NBA All-Star (2022, 2023), Morant's career was disrupted by off-court incidents involving firearms shown on social media, which led to two suspensions in 2023, and by multiple injuries in the years that followed. In 2026 he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers.
