Before "3&D" was a category, Sidney Moncrief was already the prototype — a two-time Defensive Player of the Year who also anchored some of the most efficient Milwaukee Bucks teams of the 1980s. Born September 21, 1957, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Height 6 ft 4 in (193 cm).

He led Arkansas to the 1978 Final Four. Drafted 5th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in 1979, he spent a decade as the Bucks' defensive and offensive centerpiece before finishing his career with the Atlanta Hawks (1990–1991).

Moncrief won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award twice (1983, 1984), the first player to win it in consecutive seasons, and made the All-NBA First Team once (1983). A five-time NBA All-Star, he made the All-Defensive First Team four times.
