An ankle injury in 2000 split Grant Hill's career into two distinct halves — the first six seasons of one of the most complete all-around games the league had seen, and everything after, defined by resilience through recurring surgeries. Born October 5, 1972, in Dallas, Texas. Height 6 ft 8 in (203 cm).
He won back-to-back NCAA championships at Duke (1991, 1992) under coach Mike Krzyzewski. Drafted 3rd overall by the Detroit Pistons in 1994, he won Rookie of the Year and quickly became one of the league's most versatile stars, leading the Pistons in points, rebounds, and assists in his early seasons before signing with the Orlando Magic in 2000, where his ankle injury derailed several seasons. He later played for the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers.
A seven-time NBA All-Star, Hill made the All-NBA First Team once (1997) and won the NBA Sportsmanship Award a record three times.
Career totals: 17,137 points (16.7 ppg), 6,169 rebounds (6.0 rpg), 4,252 assists (4.1 apg) over 1,026 games and 18 seasons — one of 17 players in NBA history to reach 17,000 points, 6,000 rebounds, and 4,000 assists.
Inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018. He later became a co-owner and executive of the Atlanta Hawks.
