01Biography

Jason Williams biography — NBA career story, legacy, championships, awards and personal background.

Career timeline, milestones, and place among all-time greats.

A no-look, full-court elbow pass thrown during a 2000 Rookie Challenge game became an instant basketball legend — the kind of showmanship that earned Jason Williams the nickname "White Chocolate" from a Kings media relations staffer in his rookie year. Born November 18, 1975, in Belle, West Virginia. Height 6 ft 1 in (185 cm).

He played at Marshall before transferring to Florida (1997–1998). Drafted 7th overall by the Sacramento Kings in 1998, he became known for his unorthodox, streetball-influenced passing style before a 2001 trade to the Memphis Grizzlies. He later played for the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic.

Williams won the NBA championship as the starting point guard for the Miami Heat in 2006.

Career totals: 8,286 points (10.5 ppg), 4,611 assists (5.9 apg), 1,810 rebounds (2.3 rpg) over his 12-season career.

His creative style influenced a generation of guards who grew up watching his highlight passes.
