Kyle Lowry biography — NBA career story, legacy, championships, awards and personal background.
Career timeline, milestones, and place among all-time greats.
Twenty years and one day — that's how long Kyle Lowry insisted on playing, signing a symbolic one-day contract with the Toronto Raptors in July 2026 just so his career would officially end with the franchise he calls home. Born March 25, 1986, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Height 6 ft 0 in (183 cm).
He played at Villanova (2004–2006) before being drafted 24th overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2006. After stints with the Grizzlies and Houston Rockets, he was traded to the Toronto Raptors in 2012, where he spent nine seasons and became, by his own account and many fans', the greatest player in franchise history.
Lowry won the NBA championship with Toronto in 2019, made six consecutive All-Star teams (2015–2020) — all with the Raptors — and earned an All-NBA Third Team selection in 2016. He later played for the Miami Heat and, in his hometown, the Philadelphia 76ers, before returning to Toronto to retire.
Career totals: 13.8 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game over 1,187 games and 20 seasons — his 2,209 made three-pointers rank 14th in NBA history.
He won an Olympic gold medal with Team USA in 2016. His No. 7 is expected to be retired by the Raptors.
