A costly timeout he didn't have, called in the final seconds of the 1993 national title game, remains one of the most-replayed mistakes in college basketball history — and it never stopped Chris Webber from becoming one of the most gifted big men of his generation. Born March 1, 1973, in Detroit, Michigan. Height 6 ft 10 in (208 cm).
A member of Michigan's famed "Fab Five" freshman class (1991–1993), he was drafted 1st overall by the Orlando Magic in 1993 and immediately traded to the Golden State Warriors, where he won Rookie of the Year. A public dispute with his coach led to an early trade to the Washington Bullets/Wizards, and he later found his greatest success with the Sacramento Kings (1998–2005), anchoring some of the most entertaining teams of the early 2000s.
A five-time NBA All-Star, "C-Webb" made the All-NBA First Team in 2001 and led the league in rebounding in 1999.
Career totals: 17,182 points (20.7 ppg), 8,124 rebounds (9.8 rpg), 3,526 assists (4.2 apg) over 831 games and 15 seasons.
His No. 4 was retired by the Sacramento Kings. Inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021.
