The second player ever to win Rookie of the Year straight out of high school — a feat since matched only by LeBron James — Amar'e Stoudemire became one of the league's most explosive frontcourt scorers before chronic knee problems reshaped his career. Born November 16, 1982, in Lake Wales, Florida. Height 6 ft 10 in (208 cm).
Drafted 9th overall by the Phoenix Suns in 2002, he spent eight seasons as a key piece of the "Seven Seconds or Less" Suns before signing with the New York Knicks in 2010. He later played for the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat, and finished his career with stints in the Israeli league, where he became a part-owner of Hapoel Jerusalem and won championships there and with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Nicknamed "STAT," Stoudemire was a six-time NBA All-Star (2005, 2007–2011), making the All-NBA First Team in 2007 and the Second Team four times, despite multiple microfracture knee surgeries throughout his career.
Career totals: 15,994 points (18.9 ppg), 6,632 rebounds (7.8 rpg), 1,054 blocks (1.2 bpg) over 846 games and 14 NBA seasons.
His No. 32 was retired by the Phoenix Suns. He won an Olympic bronze medal with Team USA in 2004. Inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2026.
