Edward Earl Reed Jr. is a former safety born September 11, 1978, who spent 11 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens after being drafted 24th overall out of Miami in 2002. He's a Super Bowl XLVII champion, 2004 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, five-time first-team All-Pro, and nine-time Pro Bowler, inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019.

Reed built a reputation as the league's premier "ball hawk," renowned for studying film obsessively to anticipate opposing quarterbacks' throws. He set the NFL record for the two longest interception returns in history — 106 yards in 2004 and 107 yards in 2008 — and led the league in interceptions three separate times.

His best individual season came in 2004, when he set an NFL record for interception return yardage and won Defensive Player of the Year. Reed capped his career with a Super Bowl XLVII win over San Francisco in 2013, intercepting a pass from Colin Kaepernick in the victory before retiring two years later.

Reed finished his career as the NFL's all-time leader in interception return yards (1,590) and tied for the most career postseason interceptions (9). He's also the only player in NFL history to score touchdowns via interception, fumble recovery, blocked punt, and punt return.

Reed was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 2019, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest safeties the game has produced.
