01Biography

Aaron Rodgers biography and NFL career overview.

Aaron Charles Rodgers is a quarterback born December 2, 1983, in Chico, California (6'2", 223 lbs). He played college football at California, was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft, later played for the New York Jets, and has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers since 2025. He's a four-time NFL MVP, Super Bowl XLV champion and MVP, and holds the NFL's all-time career passer rating record (102.2).

Despite a strong high school résumé, Rodgers drew almost no interest from Division I programs and began his career at junior college Butte, where he was discovered by Cal head coach Jeff Tedford. After three seasons at Cal, during which he set the school's career interception-rate record, Rodgers unexpectedly slid to the 24th pick in the 2005 draft, landing with the Packers as Brett Favre's eventual successor.

After three years as a backup, Rodgers became Green Bay's starter in 2008. The 2010 season ended with a Super Bowl XLV win over the Steelers and Super Bowl MVP honors. In 2011, he posted arguably the greatest statistical season in NFL history — a 122.5 passer rating, still the record — and won his first league MVP. He would go on to win the award three more times (2014, 2020, 2021), becoming one of only two players in history with four or more MVPs, alongside Peyton Manning.

Rodgers is known for record-setting interception-free streaks (up to 402 consecutive attempts) and the best touchdown-to-interception ratio in NFL history. In 2023, the Packers traded him to the Jets, but he tore his Achilles on the fourth snap of the season and missed almost the entire year. In 2025 he signed with the Steelers, leading them to an AFC North title.

For his career, Rodgers has thrown for over 66,000 yards and 527 touchdowns, ranking among the top four all-time in the latter category. Off the field, he's known for his interest in alternative medicine and outspoken advocacy for psychedelics.
