Cameron Phillip Heyward is a defensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers, born May 6, 1989, in Pittsburgh (6'5", 295 lbs). He played college football at Ohio State and was drafted 31st overall by the Steelers in 2011, where he remains today. He's a four-time first-team All-Pro, seven-time Pro Bowler, and the 2023 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year.

Heyward is the son of former NFL fullback Craig "Ironhead" Heyward and the older brother of Steelers tight end Connor Heyward. At Ohio State, he played in a national championship game as a true freshman and helped the Buckeyes to a Rose Bowl win as a junior before the Steelers drafted him in the first round in 2011.

Heyward developed gradually into one of the league's premier interior defenders, breaking out with 12 sacks in 2017 and earning his first All-Pro nod. His best individual seasons came from 2019 to 2024, during which he was named first-team All-Pro four times and made six Pro Bowls, anchoring a Steelers defensive line that remained consistently among the league's best.

Off the field, Heyward has been a fixture of the Pittsburgh community — serving as a team captain for a decade running and winning the 2023 Walter Payton Man of the Year award for his charitable work, done in part to honor his late father, who died of cancer.

Now in his mid-teens with the franchise, Heyward signed a new contract extension in 2026, extending a career spent entirely with the only team that drafted him — a rarity for a player of his caliber and longevity.
